Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a treatment focused on integrating psychotherapy with experimental ketamine dosing sessions. Ketamine promotes brain plasticity, providing the groundwork for accelerated progress with brain based modalities, such as EMDR and IFS. KAP treatment takes place within the context of an ongoing therapeutic relationship, which allows for preparation and integration sessions to work with the medicine in a way that supports therapeutic growth.
In IFS therapy, we’ll turn towards the parts of you holding these thoughts and feelings - allowing you to relate to yourself in a radically different way.
The Process of KAP
The process begins with an intake focused on exploring your goals for treatment, history taking and assessment to determine if KAP is a good fit, and exploring intentions and preparation.
Next, a referral is submitted to Journey Clinical, who I partner with to provide KAP. A medical intake is scheduled where a provider will conduct a thorough medical assessment. If you are eligible based on their medical assessment, your provider at Journey will set your treatment plan that encompasses dose, frequency, as well as important aspects of the dosing process.
Preparation sessions, which look like regular therapy sessions, are highly individualized. We will collaboratively determine how many preparation sessions are needed.
KAP dosing sessions last 2-3 hours and take place in my office. We will schedule an integration session within 24-72 hours of your dosing session.
Journey Clinical’s medical team will schedule regular follow ups to track outcomes, make adjustments as needed and address any medical concerns.
